The PE and Sport Premium allocation for Newton Village Academy is £16,600 for the academic year 2025/26. Here at Newton, we have a strong sporting history, with participation in local community and county competitions alongside non-competitive events. The funding will be used to maintain our high standards within the PE curriculum and school sport.16

Our objectives for the 2025-26 allocation are aligned with the following key indicators:

  1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity.
  2. To provide opportunities for all children to participate in sporting events.
  3. To provide extra equipment for children to enable effective delivery of the curriculum, and to play with at playtimes and lunchtimes, including the redevelopment of our school playground.
  4. To expand our range of extra-curricular PE and sports clubs, linking with external clubs and professional coaches.
  5. To update our team kit to enable participation in events.

Review and Impact of 2024-25 Funding

PE & Sport Premium 2024-25 allocation: £16,620

The funding had a significant positive impact on PE, school sport and physical activity across the academy. Key achievements included:

  • Providing a wide range of afterschool clubs linked to physical activity, wellbeing and sport.
  • Maintaining high participation numbers across various afterschool sporting clubs.
  • New resources to support the teaching of our new PE curriculum.
  • Community coaches to deliver additional afterschool provision including gymnastics, dance and football.
  • Staff attending relevant local CPD opportunities.
  • CPD opportunities to promote consistency and confidence across the school.
  • Continued membership of The PE Hub to support planning, assessment and delivery across the curriculum.
  • Outdoor adventurous days for all children from Years 1 to Year 6.
